Current role: Nate joined ViiV in 2022 as a Medical Science Liaison, covering West Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. In this role, he identifies and interacts with external experts to understand their insights on ViiV’s HIV portfolio. He also serves as a medical expert for the ViiV portfolio and engages with healthcare providers on scientific topics of interest. In addition, Nate is a presenter at ViiV educational programs for healthcare professionals, attends advisory boards and scientific conferences, and supports ViiV in its clinical development activities.
Experience: Nate has diverse pharmacy experience, beginning first as a pharmacist at Walgreens in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, where he worked closely with both HIV patients and underserved communities. Since then, he has served in various roles from staff pharmacist to pharmacy manager and from preceptor to mentor. In his most recent position before joining ViiV, Nate was Clinical Pharmacy Manager/Liaison for over five years at Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy in Memphis. In this role, he spearheaded the growth and management of all aspects of a community-based specialty pharmacy, including compliance, limited distribution, drug inventory management, shipping, and sales. The population served included about 500 people living with HIV or needing pre-exposure prophylaxis. Nate also integrated government-sponsored and third-party payer health care programs, prior authorization processes, and patient assistance programs to remove barriers for patients. He excelled at cultivating highly effective relationships with providers in HIV, oncology, HCV, rare diseases, and organ transplantation, collaborating to ensure appropriate therapy, and providing medical education. As the leader of a team of 15 staff, he oversaw the accurate fulfillment of 150–200 prescriptions daily within a fast-paced, specialty pharmacy environment. He was known for inspiring his team with a keen eye for maximizing talent through coaching and mentoring. Before this, Nate worked as Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Advanced Pharmacy Solutions for several years in Southaven, Mississippi. He led pharmacy operations to fill 800+ scripts daily across five states while managing all pharmacy workflows and processes, guaranteeing compliance, accuracy, and patient safety. He provided insightful educational presentations, trained new employees, and ensured quality compliance. In earlier pharmacy work, Nate worked one year as Staff Pharmacist before advancing to Pharmacy Manager and contributing over the following six years at three Memphis Walgreens pharmacies. His multiple responsibilities included training new pharmacy managers, managing drug inventory, and promoting community health through immunizations and preventive care. Through his dedicated efforts, one store became the top volume store in the district and a “Top 30” store nationally.
Education: Nate received his PharmD in 2007 from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He also holds a BS in Biology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
